Marschall-Ney-House

In May 1813, it was the French headquarters shortly before the battle. Today it houses a small museum.

On the trail of Ney

The headquarters of French Marshal Michel Ney was located in the Lützen district of Kaja on May 2, 1813. He spent two nights in this house from May 1 to 3, 1813 and used it as his headquarters. His troops bivouacked in the villages around the village of Kaja.

Today, the house houses a small exhibition on the events of 1813 and the history of the village. The Förderverein Marschall-Ney-Haus zu Kaja e.V. looks after the property for the town of Lützen and makes it accessible to visitors. There is a memorial on the site commemorating the bloody battles for Kaja on May 2, 1813. A wooden plaque erected two years after the battle commemorates the marshal's stay.
